What is a Virtual 5k? A Virtual 5k is a run or walk at your own pace, on your own time. You only compete against yourself! You can pick the treadmill, the track or hit the street outside to complete your 5k.
How do I participate? First, register online for your desired 5k. We will remind all participants when the "Race" starts. Run your 5k (3.1 miles) on a treadmill, in a park, all uphill, or in the dark! After you complete your race- just let us know! Just run your pace, fast or slow. No need to tell us your time (although bragging is always encouraged).
Can I walk? Our goal for North Iowa is to challenge yourself in whatever way you find best. You're in the club when you do a 5k - walking, jogging, or sprinting!
Why? Why a "Virtual" 5k? There are lots of reasons we choose NOT to do a race. Too early in the morning. I don't like competition. Out of town. Don't want to be in cold/hot weather.
Participating in our Virtual 5k, you're only competing against yourself, on your own time, and in your own way! The Y wants to support you in your quest!
